Dr Cherine Fahim is the founder and CEO of endoxa neuroscience with the aim of bridging the gap between neuroscience and the public.

She has authored, co-authored and cited by more than 300 scientific papers and serves as a scientific-research collaborator on several boards that conduct scientific reviews of grant applications and review scientific manuscripts for publication.

She has won numerous awards, honors, fellowships, was co-hosted by the Canadian Télé-Québec television programme ‘Le Code Chastenay’ and interviewed by the Swiss magazines l’’Hebdo and PME.

 

Dr Cherine Fahim is the founder and CEO of Endoxa Neuroscience with the aim of bridging the gap between neuroscience and the public. The core component of her career plan is to make the understanding of brain disorders closer to the general public. We all acknowledge that sharing knowledge and increasing opportunities for dialogue between different communities of researchers and the general public would be beneficial to all.

Originally from Alexandria, Egypt, Dr Fahim started her education by a B.A. in Greek and Latin Archaeology from Alexandria University in 1994. She then received a Demi-Licence in Neurobiology and Psychology from the University of Fribourg under the supervision of the internationally renowned neurophysiologist Prof. Eric Rouiller, Switzerland and the New York University (NYU), Centre for Neural Sciences under the supervision of the internationally renowned cognitive neuroscientist Prof. Marisa Carrasco in 1999 from New York, United States of America (USA).

 

Dr Fahim started her research career in the USA as a research assistant at the Rusk Institute for Rehabilitation Medicine, Department of Neurology (NYU) then at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, Department of Medical Genetics, New York State Psychiatric Institute under the supervision of the internationally renowned psychiatrist and epidemiologist Prof. Dr. Dolores Malaspina. At Columbia University Dr. Fahim attended outstanding and unprecedented lectures and seminars from the Nobel Prize winner Prof. Dr. Eric Kandel.

 

In 2005 Dr Fahim completed her education in Canada by receiving an M.Sc and a Ph.D from the Department of Neurological Sciences and Psychiatry, Faculty of Medicine, University of Montreal under the supervision of the internationally renowned psychiatrist-clinical researcher Prof. Dr. Emmanuel Stip. From 2006 to 2009 she joined McGill University as a Canadian Institutes of Health (CIHR) postdoctoral fellow at the McConnell Brain Imaging Centre (BIC) Montreal Neurological Institute (MNI) under the supervision of the internationally renowned neuroimaging expert Dr. Alan Evans.

 

In 2009, Dr Fahim moved back to Switzerland to be appointed as a junior researcher/lecturer at the Universities of Lausanne, Fribourg and the Lemanic Neuroscience Doctoral School. She joined the World Health Organization (WHO) as a consultant-expert on the development of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11) and its harmonization with the Diagnostic and Statistical Manuel (DSM-V).

 

In 2014, she moved back to Montreal, Canada as an associate researcher at the CHU Sainte Justine Research Centre, research axis on brain diseases of the University of Montreal and a collaborator with the McConnell Brain Imaging Centre of the Montreal Neurological Institute McGill University. She continues to collaborate with these two prestigious neuroscience centers.
